Today 21 November is Armed Forces Day. The day will be observed with due dignity and enthusiasm. On the occasion of the day, the President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages.
Traffic will be restricted in Dhaka Cantonment today on the occasion of Armed Forces Day. In order to keep the roads of Dhaka Cantonment (main road from Shaheed Jahangir Gate to Staff Road) free of traffic, the inter-army has requested to avoid the movement of all types of vehicles except those carrying the persons staying in the cantonment and the invited guests from 7 am to 11 am and 12 noon to 7 pm. Directorate of Public Relations (ISPR).
The program of the day will begin with a special prayer at the end of Fajr prayers wishing for the welfare, prosperity and future progress of the armed forces in the mosques of all cantonments, naval bases and air force bases of the country.

Paying tribute to the memory of the members of the armed forces who sacrificed their lives in the Great War of Independence in 1971, the President and the Prime Minister will lay wreaths at the Dhaka Cantonment Flame Extinguisher this morning. After that, Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, Chief of Navy Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hasan and Chief of Air Force Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan will lay wreaths on behalf of their respective forces.
Advisor to the Prime Minister on Security Affairs, Chiefs of the three forces will exchange skills with the Prime Minister and spend some time in a courtesy meeting at the Prime Minister’s own office designated for the Prime Minister in the Armed Forces Department located in Dhaka Cantonment. Later, the chiefs of the three forces will also pay a courtesy call on the President at Bangabhaban.
On the occasion of the day, the Prime Minister will felicitate the successors of Bir Shreshtha and the selected titled freedom fighters and their heirs at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment.
Apart from this, a reception ceremony will be organized by the Prime Minister in the afternoon at Senakunj of Dhaka Cantonment on the occasion of Armed Forces Day. Among the invited guests are the speaker of the national parliament, chief justice, former president, leader of opposition in parliament, former chief adviser, minister and person of ministerial rank, state minister, person of state minister rank and many others.
