Obaidul Quader said these things in a briefing at the Dhanmondi political office of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina on Friday afternoon.
Obaidul Quader said, “Even if not tomorrow, candidates will be announced in 300 seats on Sunday.” When we announce the names of the sections, the crowd swells up, insisting on hearing certain sections. How to find the name That’s why I am not announcing the name of the department.’ He further said, ‘New ones have also come and left. Those who will win the election, who are electable, have been nominated.
General Secretary of Awami League said, “We are not specifying the nomination now, because there may be mistakes in the nomination of the candidates we have given.” That also left an opportunity for us to correct. For this reason we have decided differently, not to announce the candidature as a district or division. We want to announce the candidacy for 300 seats together.
The Awami League general secretary said that those who have been excluded have lost acceptance with the people. Those who are not accepted by the people are not nominated. Can win elections, be they men or women, they will be nominated.
Obaidul Quader commented that there is no desire to bring an unpopular candidate from another party as a candidate for the election. He said, “Be it partner party or whoever, whatever comes to our consideration, I am selecting the popular candidate in my party’s candidate election.” Even if he comes from another party, he must have popularity.
Regarding the nomination of partners, Obaidul Quader said, ‘All of us are not holding the issue of partner parties. Because here is alliance against alliance, there is no other alliance, which is our opposition. There is no real situation like that. So we are now making our party nominations. In the end, if necessary, we have a chance.
He said that the Islamic parties have spoken to the Prime Minister and expressed their views. Islamic parties will come to the polls.
“Shaqib Al Hasan will now do politics”
Regarding the nomination of cricketer Shakib Al Hasan from Awami League, the general secretary of the party said, “How many heroes and heroines are MPs in West Bengal of India.” They don’t party directly. Even in a large democratic country like India. And Shakib Al Hasan will do politics, serve the people. He can stand anywhere in Bangladesh.
Obaidul Quader said, “They are standing again.” They will seek nomination here, we can also nominate them here. Because, they did not get any opportunity to work. If we think that this candidate can give something to the area, to the party, we will consider giving that opportunity.
General Secretary of Awami League said that BNP will not come, that cannot be ruled out by one word. BNP still has a chance to come. Maybe BNP can come as party or alliance. Many people from within BNP are preparing for elections. He also said, ‘We have news. Many of them will participate in the election as candidates. A lot depends on what stage the film goes to at the last minute.
Obaidul Quader said that the Prime Minister has repeatedly asked the BNP to avoid non-politics and they are doing sabotage in the name of the movement. Having failed in the political movement, they have now chosen the path of destroying the economy in the country. They failed in political movement. Elections cannot be stopped by sneak attacks. Can’t be faked. Elections will be held on time.
When asked about Russia’s comments on the October 28 incident, he said, “We do not welcome any comments from external forces regarding the elections of our country. Our focus is on making the choice. Countries will make any comments against each other, we do not want to be a part of it.
