But when Bangladesh celebrated its Victory Day on December 16, the United States supported Bangladesh. “Since our independence, the United States has never gone against us. What does this mean? As a country is built, we are with them.’

Momen said, Bangladesh Awami League does not want to create obstacles in the democratic journey. We believe in democracy. We do not want to obstruct the democratic process.’

He said that they want to show the world that free, fair and violence-free elections can be held under them.

The foreign minister said, we hope that all the parties will participate in the elections and there will be a festive atmosphere throughout the country.

“Our friendly countries recommend us and we welcome them if they play a supporting role,” he said.

Regarding violence-free elections, he said, it requires sincerity and goodwill of all.

Momen said, they cannot ignore developed countries.

He said, ‘We regard them with great respect and honor.’

The minister said, ‘United States is a superpower. We cannot ignore them.’

He said that the next election will be participatory if people vote. In Bangladesh usually 50 percent voters cast their votes.

Momen said that there was only one election in Bangladesh during the BNP-Jamaat period in 1996, which was without voters.

Responding to a question about RAB, Momen said, RAB is a very prestigious institution, and people respect it as it is free from corruption.

He said, ‘It is a very effective organization. With RAB, we have eradicated terrorism, and drug and human trafficking has also reduced a lot.

He also said that they are very smart as they have been trained by the US and Britain. “If they are trained again, they will do better.”

He said, “The US government has matured, and we are always hopeful that the sanctions on this elite force will be lifted.”

In response to a question, Momen said that they are not feeling any pressure in view of the upcoming elections.

The foreign minister said, “Politics does not mean arson, killing people, preventing the development of the country, and obstructing the education of students through blockade.” Politics should be for the welfare of the people. Then the people will accept them. Source of data: dailynayadiganta
