Earthquake-jumped from window, injured student in the hospital

A student of Dhaka University was injured after jumping from the window of the residential hall due to the earthquake. He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

An earthquake was felt across the country this Saturday morning. The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.6 on the Richter scale. Due to the earthquake, students started running in fear in various residential halls of Dhaka University. The plastering of a building of Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall fell from different places. The glass door of the reading room in the hall was broken.

Minhazur Rahman jumped from the second floor of Masterda Surya Sen Hall in fear during the earthquake. Minhajur, a student of Islamic History and Culture Department, jumped from the window of room number 233 of that hall. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

In the hospital’s emergency department, Minhajur Rahman told Prothom Alo, “I was fast asleep in my room (room 233 of Suryasen Hall). Wake up in the morning during the earthquake. I was scared to see the room shaking. I heard the sound of breaking glass. Apart from this, I could hear running noises below. Then I jump down from the window.

Suryasen Hall principal Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan said that Minhazur Rahman has been admitted to the orthopedic department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The student suffered an ankle injury.
