Rajshahi-6 (Bagha-Charghat) Member of Parliament and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam has been accused of threatening to kill a chairman of the Union Parishad (UP). The name of the UP chairman who complained is Md. Merazul Islam. He is former General Secretary of Rajshahi District Chhatra League and Chairman of Pakuria UP. He is working for Rajshahi-6 Constituency Independent Candidate and Former Member of Parliament Awami League Leader Rahenul Haque. Shahriar Alam, the current Member of Parliament, has been nominated by Awami League for this seat.
In the written complaint, Merajul Islam mentioned that he is an activist and supporter of Rahenul Haque, an independent candidate of Rajshahi-6 seat in the 12th National Parliament Election. On December 2, at the special extended meeting of Awami League at Farhad Alauddin Government Primary School ground in Charghat, he made various provocative statements including slandering him as a ‘kulanger’.
