Shokaz Zafarullah on Nixon’s charges

Awami League nominated candidate Kazi Zafarullah of Faridpur-4 (Bhanga, Sadarpur, Charbhadrasan) constituency has been condemned for violating the electoral code of conduct.

They have been asked to appear in person before the election inquiry committee formed by the Election Commission (EC) by 3:30 p.m. today to respond to the complaint.

A letter signed by Faridpur-4 Election Inquiry Committee Chairman and Joint District and Sessions Judge Second Court Mohammad Moin Uddin Chowdhury has been sent to Kazi Zafarullah yesterday.
Independent candidate of this seat and current Member of Parliament Mojibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon yesterday submitted a written complaint to the Chairman of the Election Inquiry Committee. A video clip of Kazi Zafarullah’s speech was also given. On the basis of Nixon’s written complaint, Kazi Zafarullah has been asked to appear in person today to respond to the complaint.

In the show cause notice, it is said that as per the complaint, you have been carrying out election activities by conducting mass communication and road meetings using microphones in Sheikhpura market under Bhanga upazila on December 13. Attended a meeting during the courtesy meeting and exchange of skills with all common people, businessmen and party leaders and workers who came to Sheikhpura market and while giving a speech in the said meeting you said, ‘The MP who is there is not from our area. He is from Shivchar from Madaripur. He is coming here to cut sand, is coming to make money, is he coming to change your fate? He says Kazi Mahabullah is a thief. He says I belong to fakir clan. Fakkini’s son. Do you understand that if I do this, what will happen to you? How much violence and hatred he has.

The notice said your statement is contrary to Rule 11(a) of the Rules of Conduct of Political Parties and Candidates in Parliamentary Elections, 2008. At the same time, it appears that you have violated rules 6(b) and 6(c) of the said rules by participating in the meeting without obtaining written permission from the appropriate authority and notifying the local police authority about the said meeting.
